Lennon smoked too - Detroit Metro Times

The War on Drugs was still just a twinkle in Richard M. Nixon's evil eye when the great John Lennon released his classic recording called "Imagine." That was in 1971, and Nixon launched his horribly misconceived attack on recreational drug users the following year as part of the re-election campaign headed by the aptly named Committee to Re-Elect the President (CREEP). SCOTT COX: How my generation killed rock 'n' roll

The sad thing is, it appears that rock died on my watch. My generation let this all go down. But, just as country music drew its last breath when Taylor Swift got her Grammy (although I personally believe that its downward spiral began when Columbia Records dumped Johnny Cash back in the '80s), I guess I have to pronounce rock dead, too. Once Neil Diamond is in your Hall of Fame, can you still call it rock 'n' roll? Of course you can't. They might as well go ahead and let Anne Murray in, too. And Tom Jones. And heck, why not Justin Bieber? If we're gonna kill it, let's make sure it stays down for good. Read More - Bakersfield.com

The Rutherford Institute: John Lennon: ‘We’re Only Trying to Get Us Some Peace’

John and Yoko married in March, checked into the Amsterdam Hilton in Holland for their honeymoon and, to the surprise of many, immediately announced that a “happening” was about to take place in their bed. Holland was permissive, but even the chief of Amsterdam’s vice squad issued a warning to anyone planning to attend. Despite this, 50 news people crowded outside John and Yoko’s hotel room, Suite 902. “These guys were sweating to fight to get in first because they thought we were going to make love in bed. That’s where their minds were at,” Lennon later recalled. [read more]

My Vapor4Life Experience/Testimonial

Ex-Smokers are jumping on the new 2-piece e-cigarette bandwagon in an attempt to stop smoking real cigarettes. Those who started vaping earlier will be the main buyers of the older models. Vapor4Life deserves most of the credit for this new and improved e-cigarette they call The Vapor King. It's my Personal Vaporizer of choice, and Vapor4Life is my main company for all things e-cig. Trading in the smoke for water vapor seemed like a huge decision to me at the time, and looking back I'm not really sure why. Maybe I didn't think it would work, maybe the 3-piece was more popular and I was plain confused about so many things. Vapor4Life made it an easy choice. You get a battery that has an LED light on the tip and you screw on a cart that has the liquid and atomizer in one unit. The two together 'smokes' and feels like a real cigarette, only tasting so much better that my desire for stinky smoke dissolved quickly. Before I knew what happened I was a non-smoker. I want no pats on the back for quitting smoking though, because I feel like it was just too easy. I feel all the expected health benefits of a non-smoker, but I kind of feel I didn't really quit smoking. I just turned to a safer alternative to receive my nicotine, as the patch and gum was a dismal failure for me and less than 5% of the users succeed with these Big Pharma methods.

Out of nowhere Big Pharma was slapped around by something they should have thought of a long time ago, the e-cig, invented by a Chinese Pharmacist, it is taking the world by storm! The FDA lost several key court battles to ban these and though they haven't given them the needed green light, it appears that this will be around for a long time, regulating only the sales to minors by states. I'm good with this law. Minors don't want a 'fake cigarette', they want real cigarettes. They think of these as fake cigs for people trying to quit, and the start up kit is out of their price range.

No, it's not for kids. It's for smokers that want to stop. Boasting an 80% success rate (the other 20% must have just not wanted to quit, or got an inferior e-cig from the many scammers that have popped up). That's a shame, because these scammers will ruin the legit vendors ability to sell this gem of a device! If your first e-cig is from some rip off artist telling you 3 drops of juice equals a pack of cigarettes, and sells you a generic battery with a 5 second cut off that dies within weeks, you're whole vaping experience may be tainted for life, and that's not fair!

Do it right the first time, I put my name by this company because of my own first hand experiences with e-cigs. I could tell you the companies to stay away from, the types of e-cigs not to buy, etc. but it's easier to tell you to buy the Vapor King start up kit right off the bat, and I promise you great results.

We've been programmed to be skeptical of sales pitches, and rightfully so. This is not a sales pitch! I QUIT SMOKING! I want to help others quit. If the Vapor King doesn't work for you, send it back for a refund. I'm here to tell you that I smoked for over 40 years, and when I bought my Vapor King it was to cut back on smoking, not to quit. Today I can't stand the smell or taste of a burning cigarette. The clean taste of a non-burning flavor, be it a tobacco flavor or a coffee, strawberry, butterscotch (and the list goes on and on), has replaced the desire for cigarettes with no effort from me. It just happened naturally. I hope if you're a smoker who in your heart wants to be a non-smoker, but still enjoy the experience of smoking, this is for you. Please don't think about it too long. I did, and had I just jumped in I'd have saved over $600 for cigarettes while thinking it over. Man, I wish I had that money back. Go Here and Look around, order what you need with confidence that this company will make sure to take good care of you.

Why "Yellow Submarine" could have been a great remake - Salon.com

In the world of animation, there is only one thing creepier than Claymation (sorry Gumby) and that is motion-capture technology. Talk about Uuncanny valley: movies like "Polar Express," "Beowolf," and Jim Carrey's "A Christmas Carol" aren't cute or fun, they are terrifying. Plus, it seems silly to spend millions of dollars to make an animated Tom Hanks look just like the real Tom Hanks. Why not just use a non-animated Tom Hanks and save a bunch of money? John Lennon Remasters - Glide Magazine

Despite the erratic nature of his solo output, John Lennon garnered almost as much respect and reverence on his own as he did as a Beatle. It’s arguable that his extra-musical activities, such as the peace advocacy that raised the ire of the establishment, had as much or more to do with the admiration accorded Lennon, but that doesn’t deny the force of the best work he did once the iconic band dissolved in 1970. In fact, as affirmed by the remastering and repackaging of his solo work--superior perhaps in its expanded detail (and an alternate stripped down version of Milk & Honey), if not of such epochal impact as The Beatles’ catalog in 2009-- John Lennon’s solo music is as clear a reflection of the man himself perhaps as the work any artist of his time. Beatles were the original punkers, says playwright - Sun Media - Ontario, CA

In the early years before the beards, the maharishi, Sgt. Pepper's, and swearing off their pandemonium-filled live shows (who could blame them?), the Beatles were probably the closest thing to a punk band back then. Sporting motorcycle jackets and rockabilly hair, John, Paul, George and Ringo were a ferocious bar act who famously honed their chops in Hamburg with all-night beer-fuelled gigs that often broke the eight-hour mark. Legendary British Band Stackridge to Appear on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on Monday, March 14th on CBS-TV

Stackridge, the British band that became a cult favorite in the 1970's and recently reunited to critical acclaim, is scheduled to appear as musical guests on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Monday night, March 14, 2011. The program, which will feature the band's first-ever performance in the United States, will air on CBS-TV at 12:35 a.m.

Stackridge became a popular recording act and concert attraction in the UK in the 1970's, producing five major-label albums, including the celebrated The Man in the Bowler Hat, produced by Beatles producer Sir George Martin. The band broke up in 1976 before having an opportunity to reach the American market. A rabid online fan base convinced Stackridge to reunite in 2008. Since then, the band has kept an active performing schedule, as well as releasing a live DVD and an album of all-new material in 2009. That album, A Victory for Common Sense (Helium Records), received four-star reviews in MOJO magazine and The Times of London.

Craig Ferguson invited Stackridge to appear on his program after the band discovered via YouTube and Twitter that Ferguson was featuring one of its recordings in his touring stand-up comedy act. Ferguson first became a Stackridge fan during his adolescence in Scotland in the 1970's.

About Stackridge
Stackridge (http://www.stackridge.net/) delivers an effervescent mix of melodic tunes, playful and poignant lyrics, and instrumental exploration under the leadership of original members Andy Davis (guitar, vocals), "Mutter" Slater, (flute, vocals) "Crun" Walter (bass), and James Warren (guitar, vocals). Since 2008, the band has reissued its entire back catalog on Angel Air Records and released a live DVD and CD (The Forbidden City), and an album of all-new material, A Victory for Common Sense, on Helium Records (www.heliumrecords.co.uk). Produced by Chris Hughes (Tears for Fears/Paul McCartney), A Victory for Common Sense received four-star reviews in MOJO magazine and The Times of London. The original members are supported on stage by Eddie John (drums), Clare Lindley (violin, vocals), and Glenn Tommey (keyboards, trombone, vocals).

A new generation of fans is now discovering what British rock aficionados prized in the early 70's, when Stackridge released three albums on MCA Records, including the George Martin-produced The Man in the Bowler Hat and two albums on Elton John's Rocket label. Although Davis and Warren went on to success as The Korgis (“Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime”), the unique and timeless sound that is Stackridge refused to remain dormant, and the band's current resurgence is a cause for celebration for fans, old and new, on both sides of the Atlantic.
