Dispute over rare John Lennon footage back in court

A hearing is scheduled tomorrow in Boston’s federal court to assess damages in the copyright case of film shot nearly three decades ago of late Beatle John Lennon letting his famous hair down. Shot in London in 1970 on the verge of the Beatles’ breakup - and never seen by Lennon’s fans - the hours and hours of footage are estimated to be worth up to $150 million. They were only recently declared the property of Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono. Ono, 76, was awarded the rights to their at-home movies in June by U.S. District Court Judge Rya W. Zobel, nine years after they were stolen from World Wide Video of Lawrence in 2000. [read more]
